The USS Serling is more than just a dedicated Star Trek fan club. We are also dedicated to bringing our world closer to Gene Roddenberry's vision of a future through charity and volunteering. You could say that this is our Prime Directive. It governs how we dedicate our time, money and energy as a club and as individuals.

Donating to the Animal Care Council

Over the years we have participated in charity events and fundraisers including Relay for Life, the Barnes & Nobles Fundraiser for Literacy Volunteers of Broome/Tioga County and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. We also have gathered donations of food, household goods and toys for numerous groups and causes. These include organizations such as the RISE shelter (formerly SOS Shelter) in Endicott and the Animal Care Council; as well as during emergency situations such as the floods from hurricanes Irene and Sandy.

If you want to help out but you aren't much of a Trekkie, that's fine too! We are always collecting donations for shelters so you are welcome to come to our meetings with non-perishable foods, diapers, children's toys and other items. Be sure to watch our Mission Log for news on upcoming charity events and fundraisers; you are always welcome to lend a hand!

Or, if you want to donate or volunteer directly, here is a list of some of our charity partners that you can contact:
